Who’s a real New Yorker to you? Who comes up when you think of New York?
It might be someone in a sharply tailored suit and bound for Wall Street.
It might be someone with highlights in all the right places, sporting a Birkin bag and Jimmy Choos.
If you’re a SATC or AJLT fan (‘Sex and the City’, ‘And Just Like That’ respectively), you’re thinking about Carrie and her girls. Or perhaps someone from ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, like Miranda Priestly.
I respectfully beg to differ. They are NOT real New Yorkers. No sirree.
When we gape in awe at the glamorous characters who — don’t get me wrong- do exist in this town, we forget about an important set of New Yorkers. They don’t all live in the city, but they certainly run it. To me, they’re the real deal.
