Creating Joyful Moments Throughout Your Day
All day long, make sure to carve out some time for joy and laughter
For the most part, I am happy. But sometimes, it is hard to find joy in the day-to-day minutia. At those times, I have to dig a little deeper and see the job and gratitude in my life.

Most of us lead hectic lives. We’re sometimes so busy balancing jobs and responsibilities that we forget to spend time doing things that make us happy. Unfortunately, a lack of joy in your daily life can lead to dissatisfaction and have long-term harmful effects on your health.
Several well-known studies show that positive emotions, like joy, significantly impact your health. One such study, “Positive Emotion and Health: Going Beyond the Negative,” appeared in the July 2005 issue of Health Psychology. According to the study:
- A 10-year study found that joy and optimism reduced heart disease risks by 51% among males.
- Positive emotions like joy and hope can lower the risk of heart disease and protect against high blood pressure, diabetes, and upper respiratory infections.
