Crushed by Your First Negative Review on Etsy? Here’s How to Bounce Back and Succeed!
A learning experience as a business owner
I started writing this at the end of April, but I wanted to reflect further before publishing, as this is all a big learning experience!
A few days ago, I was so excited because I was on track to make Star Seller at the May 1st qualification for the first time ever in my Etsy store. I haven’t made much money yet, so that was the qualifying piece I kept missing every three months. My reviews were great at all five stars, and my messages were on time.
Star Seller requirements: 4.8-star review out of 5, 95% response rate in messaging, and a minimum of $300 in sales over that rolling 3-month period.
Today, I likely won’t qualify because of one negative review that has nothing to do with the quality of the product and was a result of a misunderstanding of the product being purchased. Unfortunately, the buyer gave a 2-star review, which dropped the average significantly.
