POETRY/WOMEN’S RIGHTS
Dear White Men
A poem
Dear white men
Where have you been?
Women are struggling
Our patience worn thin.
My body,
Your choice?
Do I even have a voice?
For our freedoms, we fought
And with the punishment you’ve brought
Here we are
Once again
Feeling as if
We will never win.
If you trust your mothers, wives, and daughters
Don’t allow us to be put up as fodder
In a war with the religious right
Because we will never give up this fight.
Wherever you go
You are always free.
But as for women,
That is not to be.
Conservative doctrine
Bribed the courts.
Our wombs, now imprisoned.
But in us, you should trust.
As givers of life, we deserve more.
We are not stupid.
