Death Becomes Her
So says the hypocritically named Life Act
This past February, 30-year-old Georgia resident, Adriana Smith, sought help for intense headaches at Northside Hospital. She was nine weeks pregnant at the time.
But because this is America and she is a woman of color, no real interventions that could have helped save her were administered and so released with just a medication, that night she was left gasping for air. Her partner summoned assistance and at Emory University Hospital she was pronounced brain dead due to multiple clots in her brain.
Enter Team LIFE. In 2019 Governor Brian Kemp signed this stringent law that effectively bans all abortions after 6 weeks except in limited, documentable instances. It took effect after six Heritage Foundation sponsored Supreme Court Justices decimated Roe.
Now the family of Adriana has no say whatsoever in their loved one’s status as forced incubator.
According to Adriana’s mom, April Newkirk, “It’s torture for me…I see my daughter breathing, but she’s not there.”
