Disabling the Comment Sections Might Just Save the World

For Improved Mental Health, Avoid the Comments Section

I read so many things online during most waking hours. If something grabs my attention, I’ll click a link and read an article outside of the social media platform I find it on. I try to avoid the comments section once I’ve read the article.

Try to. I’m only human. Sometimes my curious nature gets the best of me.

It’s generally regrettable. Especially if I’m reading something about politics or religion. I’d be better off not even reading those kinds of articles. But again, that curious nature of mine. I’m generally sorry that I dove into the pool of ignorance that seems to abound in comment sections.

Someone wrote a piece recently about disabling comments sections on articles. I don’t recall if they meant here on Medium or for news articles. But it made me think about the point they were making:

Disabling the comments sections online would sure go a long way in helping to fix the divisive nature of America these days.
