DOGED. That $9 Billion In Savings Might Kill Papa.
DOGE just announced the end of the US Medical system
I saw the message on X at 7pm yesterday. I walked over to ask Papa about what he’d like on his pizza. Instead, I did a mean thing.
“Papa, you see what Doge just announced?”
His reaction was as angry as any I’ve seen from him. “Can you stop talking about this stuff?!?” If he were healthy, he would have stood up out of his chair and pushed me down.
Apparently, one of his nieces, a nurse, had just given him a call and forwarded him the tweet.
This news hit too close to home for a very sick man who remembered eagerly voting for Donald Trump, the billionaire builder from his home town, New York City: “He’s gonna fix this economy, just like Reagan. He’ll stop crime. Stop wars. And keep us safe.”
Five hours earlier Papa had been sitting in front of a new doctor at one of the world’s best academic research hospitals, hoping for good news from an expert in the disease slowly killing him.
