About the Republican platform
I’ve encountered a number of posts on social media lately about the Democratic platform. One post I saw a few days ago sticks with me — or “sticks in my craw” might be better phrasing:
“Harris-Waltz has no platform” is scrawled across the top of the image (one misspelling and one grammatical error in a four-word sentence). Kamala Harris is shown as a skinny, Black, huge-lipped maid waving a mop around.
The Harris-Walz “no platform” is 25 pages of very specific statements about the Harris-Walz platform. It is a promise of the work that will get done if the Democrats win the presidency, the Senate, and the House. I know what’s in the document because I summarized it a few days ago in Ⓗelping Ⓐmerica Ⓡespectfully Ⓡestore Ⓘts Ⓢanity.
Today, it seemed time to read and summarize the Republican platform. I do want to be fair. I don’t want to be doing the equivalent of the Facebook racist, showing Trump in a Facebook post as a fat, white, pouty-lipped moneybag waving an upside-down Bible around and with “tRump-Vance has no platform” scrawled across the top of the image. That image is enough to give my stomach a turn.
