If you didn’t already hear about this, you need to hear about this

I read over the weekend that a man was attempting to float down the Missouri River, which borders Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri, in a pumpkin — in order to break a world record.

Which of course raises the question, “There’s a world record for floating down a river in a pumpkin?”

I doubt this pumpkin is large enough to hold a grown man

Well, there was, and now there’s a new record holder! His name is Duane Hansen, and he celebrated his 60th birthday by floating down the river in a 846-pound pumpkin he named the S.S. Berta.

In a world that seems increasingly filled with news that inspires fear and dread, it was nice to read about Mr. Hansen just quietly living out his weirdo dream.

Life goes by pretty fast. Sometimes you have to stop, slow down, and float down the river in a pumpkin.
