“Give Me One Anecdote That’s Emblematic of Donald Trump’s Essence”
The request I made of Jeffrey Epstein
The date was sometime in August of 2019. Donald Trump was the president, Jeffrey Epstein was locked up in a cell designated for suicidal inmates at MCC federal prison, and I, convicted of tax fraud, was running the inmate companion program as part of my compulsory employment at the prison.
For ten or so four-hour periods during the evening hours, I watched Jeffrey Epstein. Sitting behind a desk just two or three feet from the window to Jeffrey’s cell, I interacted with my fellow prisoner as much or more than any other individual at the facility.
As his premier watcher (I did the scheduling and thus knew nobody spent more time with Epstein than I did), I felt it was my duty to keep Jeffrey engaged and entertained during my shifts with him.
After all, he was in an alien land filled with all sorts of criminals most of whom he couldn’t relate to. And there I was, a white-collar offender of similar age, the same race, the same religion, and college-educated.
In fact, at one point when considering his future while talking to the shrinks, he asked if I could be his celly in general population.
