Sooo..um…yeah, I know I’ve been a bit absent lately.

“The dog ate my homework.”

No? Fine.

Here’s what really happened.

Last fall, my husband began working with our doctor to determine if his previous doctors had him on too many medications. He began slowly weaning off the least necessary on the list.

Unfortunately, one of them was being prescribed for off-label use, as it was known to help curb dreaming in C-PTSD patients. It is also a blood pressure medication of a sort.

Wrong move.

Even though he was still taking the blood pressure medications he had taken for years, his blood pressure suddenly became erratic. Dangerously erratic.

He went back on the medicine he had cut. It didn’t help.

At random times, his blood pressure skyrocketed. The doctor gave him a script for nitroglycerin. He was told to go to the hospital if it got too high and wouldn’t respond after the max three doses.

They added extra doses of his normal medications and the spikes settled into a pattern of afternoon appearances. He was getting some relief, until one…
