The MAGA GOP is completely divergent from our constitutional democratic system. Conservatives are destroying our system. And, they know it. But, our system stands between them and the power they worship — so it must go. In 2024, Republicans don’t even want to be in a democracy, and put it in writing. [Seattle Times]
Today’s so called “conservatives” are opposed to even a hint of compassion in regulations, law, policy, or government programs. Christian Nationalist Republicans keep espousing repugnant ideas and working to make those ideas into official policy (read: institutionalized oppression). We’ve been dragged along for decades, as they descend ever more rapidly into the current nightmarish, openly extremophile authoritarianism.
The worst of them freely spew vile and hateful rhetoric. When they do, the rightwing cheer them on. I wish MAGA were new. Then, we might hope it would vanish when Trump is gone.
Unfortunately, conservatives in America were already speeding down toward this pit. As a political party, they were tunneling down long before Trump showed up and named them, since at least 1976. Remember…
