If you ask most people what an incel is, they’ll probably tell you that it’s a socially awkward man that no woman will sleep with. The word incel stands for “involuntary celibate” after all, but that doesn’t describe an incel well at all.
I have a lot of compassion for lonely people. Loneliness is painful, but incels aren’t just lonely men. They’re not victims of women’s high standards, although they’ll claim to be.
They’re men filled with so much hate — racism, misogyny, and other bigotry — mixed in with a desire to rape anyone they’re attracted to, that no woman wants to go near them.
I once spied on an incel forum to see the kinds of things they talked about. I had never seen the n-word written so many times in my life. Every word they wrote dripped with hate for women and the reasons they felt justified to sexually assault them if they wanted to. It was awful.
These kinds of men are so miserable and so selfish that they can’t feel joy unless they’re making everyone in the world as unhappy as they are. That’s where the term “canthal tilt” comes in.
