Hunter Schafer Might Play Zelda, And Certain Men Are Mad
The actress is a trans woman and the controversy centers on that fact alone.
A rumor is making its way around the internet. Producers of the upcoming movie, The Legend of Zelda, are eyeing Hunter Schafer to play the titular role. And as can be seen in the picture, she seems to be a perfect fit for the role.
The casting rumor was started by Daniel Richtman. He posted it behind a paywall on Twitter. Soon after, it went viral and had people talking about Schafer playing the Zelda again.
When the movie was first announced in 2023, many people played armchair casting director. One of the names thrown about was Schafer’s because of how much she looks like the video game character.
So it made sense that producers would look at her for the role.
It also doesn’t hurt that Schafer is one of the stars of Euphoria, a hit show on HBO. The gig helps raise her profile among the demographic that the movie will likely be targeting. And helped shaped her acting chops.
In 2024, Schafer was asked about whether or not she would be up for being part of the movie, specifically as Zelda. She shared that she’d always been a fan of the series, and it would be “so cool” if she were offered the part.
