It’s Exciting, It’s Suspenseful, and It’s the Biggest Athletic Event of the Year

Ladies and Gentlemen, It’s the Puppy Bowl!

I’ve seen the hustle-bustle of every American grocery store and bar. I’ve witnessed the heated arguments from devout fans of opposing teams, and I’ve prepared myself for total sensory overload.

That’s right; it’s Super Bowl Weekend!

You won’t see many people out of their houses or decided bars and restaurants unless it’s to shout and honk their cars in victory. This is the most enthusiastic many people get each year!

As for me? Well, I’m a member of the other part of the population — the part that watches the Super Bowl for the halftime show and… nope, that’s it.

The halftime shows are always something to look forward to! Last year’s performance by various rappers was amazing, 2021 was a bop, and the year before that was pure #girlboss.

But if you ask me, NOTHING beats Lady Gaga’s beautifully flamboyant performance in 2017. Then again, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, do I really have a choice?

Nah, even if I had a choice, it would be this. Video Source: YouTube

I suppose I’m not giving the commercials enough credit. They used to be amazing, and they’re still good, just less so. I’ll also be watching for those.

Despite all that, the main thing I look forward to every Super Bowl Sunday is Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl!

It consists of two teams: Team Ruff in green and Team Fluff in yellow. Dogs run around with toys, and when one happens to cross over the touchdown line, they get a point for their team!

There’s also a Parrot that puts updates on Twitter, a cat booth, a hamster on a wheel, dramatic music…

It’s incredibly cheesy, but it makes much more sense to me than football.

This can get awkward sometimes. When people ask me who I’m rooting for, I never know what to do! Whenever I say I’m undecided, they give me the weirdest looks. I’ll never understand sports.

That’s ok, though; by now, it’s common knowledge that I won’t know anything about teams and all that. But thanks to a conversation from last night, I now have a vital piece of information that will blow everyone away:

Super Bowl 2023 will be the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Philadelphia Eagles!

Look at me go!

Thanks to this knowledge, I can now partake in small discussions about the Super Bowl! I will no longer feel completely out of place at the family party!

One time last year, I accidentally started cheering for the Wrong Team (and I still have no idea who they were). This did not sit well with my cousins.

In my incredibly experienced opinion, the thing about this year’s Super Bowl is that it will give Midwestern America something to be remembered by, other than corn and soybeans.

Wait, didn’t the Chiefs win last year, too? Meh. Either way, I hope they win this year, too.

I’m still terrified of potential Super Bowl conversations, though. Can I go more in-depth than Chiefs vs. Eagles? No. Will this be a problem…?

Nah, it’s fine! How many sports will there be to talk about, anyway?
