Side hustles can be great. Being able to earn money in several ways either through part-time work, businesses, or any number of other side hustle-type work can be rewarding and fulfilling. Many of us are writing here on Medium as a side hustle.
I’ve been a party to several side hustles. I learned the hard way about the need for new business ideas to be classified as side hustles after quitting my full-time retail sales job around the age of 21. It was time to make a shit ton more money running a sales team to sell a reminder service.
Yep. that’s what my not-yet-fully formed 21-year-old brain thought was the right move. I happened to watch an infomercial about Don Lapre’s reminder service business, and how I could make a huge income by selling the service to other people myself. Or, I could put together a team of sharp salespeople that I would personally hire, train, and manage.
Don Lapre was all over TV with numerous shady internet business ventures he’d hock on the air with great energy and encouraging schpiels. I remember he’d go on and on about placing tiny little ads in newspapers all over the US that would make him upwards of $50,000 a week. He’d sell…
