Medium Growth Algorithm; Let Me Show You How It Works
A trick of Medium Growth; a trick to read
Before I give you any phrases or tips, I want you to know that I’ve done similar things in the past.
So if you think this is “just another content growth complete load,” I want you to know that this is always changing, but as of today, when the article came out, I think the accuracy of the information is solid and real.
Here are some articles that may help you understand my research and analysis;
So yeah, I focused on growing without spamming, begging for followers, or doing anything else of the sort. The game is different from other popular social media platforms.
Integrity and persistence are the names of the game, but interaction is fundamental, and let me explain why.
No matter what you do, the number of reads and views starts to drop in the middle to the end of the month
Analyze your own statistics.
Or in any case, it slows down even if you upload every single day. Correct me if I’m wrong but I guess on this platform almost impossible to get viral or one-hit-wonder.
But it happens a lot on Tiktok, it has happened on YouTube, and it happens a lot on Instagram.
It could slow down from the beginning of the month to the middle of the month, but my point is that it does slow down.
It doesn’t always mean that your content is bad, but if you’re feeling down about it, know that you’re not alone and it’s pretty common in this place.
So without further explanation whatsoever, Medium has a different algorithm for pushing your content.
Once I get 200 followers, I’m going to do another analysis to see what happens if I post without a publicist. I'm going to do another A/B testing and I’m going to share it with you guys.
Medium “promotion system” stinks beyond Hannah Gatsby's joke
But this one is a positive for us. Happened once last month and twice this month.
Here’s the thing: Twice this month, when I opened the app on my iPhone, a random article written in Malaysian language popped up out of nowhere.
I even presumed why Medium would promote content that I never open, search for, or even see.
The good part about this is Medium promotes our content for sure.
But this is bad because most of the time, content that just pops up means that someone else is in charge of your story, and systems like this are easy to hack (this one is based on pure opinion and experience).
I know every platform does this but why Medium makes it so obvious though.
So, if I may give you some advice, don’t make a mistake, and don’t act like you’re qualified to do American Voice on this platform.
If they truly do it, I understand why they do it.
I mean, I’m kind of sick of the destruction of mainstream social media, and I wish that kind of control could help us and keep us in the middle, not too far to the left or right.
So I guess some of the content that will be promoted will depend on how close it is to where I am. Right now I’m in Bali, so… YES, Malaysian… so close. Lol.
Why Malaysian in Bali anyway. Meh…
Diagnose your content before you think of it as a content
Although it’s risky for your time and hard to do, seek first to understand, or diagnose before you process it, this is a correct principle manifest in many areas of life.
Think before you consider it as your material, here are some points to specify:
- Content attractiveness
- Everlasting aspects
- Material element ( Help, Entertainment, Knowledge )
- Publicist
- If you publish without publication; consider the timing
- In what article do most people follow you
If your reason here to not to think about any clout element then you are my role model. Please buy me Ko-fi I need to know you and I'll contact you in person.
But if you’re here for somewhat or somehow personal branding then think of yourself not only as a writer but also as a salesman.
An effective salesperson first seeks to understand the needs, concerns, and situations of your customer.
The amateur salesman sells products; the professional sells the needs and problems. It’s also true in article design.
Can you imagine someone in the New York Times saying, “This magazine consumer research stuff is for a dickless people. Let’s write about women.”
In other words, forget to understand the readers reading habits and motives — just post the content. It would never work.
Or, to stick with my first example, they promote Malaysian dude content, but I don’t read it at all because I find it boring and not at all what I’m looking for.
The social mirror; between stimulus and response
If you do some cheap perception you will die.
If the only vision we have of ourselves comes from the social mirror — from the current social paradigm and from the opinions, perception, and paradigms of the people around us — our view of ourselves is like reflection in the crazy mirror room at the carnival.
The reflection of the current social paradigm tells us we are largely determined by conditioning and conditions.
In a simple way to put it is like you can say the outfit of that dude is impressive and you want to dress that way but it doesn't necessarily mean you going to look as good as that dude.
Some people inspire you to do what they do, which is fine, but people will notice your move sooner or later.
And think of this,
If they can use the originals, why the f&ck do they need to look at second grade?
If you are now in that state please never let yourself down. As an intellectual being, it is an act of natural response to mimic the higher or better circumstances.
Solving problems and bringing joy is the best way to draw people's attention. But please diagnose first.
Niche down, but don’t be apathetic
The algorithm doesn’t fully understand your concept, but it knows your intention.
Hear me out, please do this:
- Upload and focus on your main niche.
- Upload one of your personal blogging with your random thoughts.
- Both ways, you should always keep in touch with Medium society.
Here is something that you may find interesting, no matter how focused to niche down on your game, Medium always wants you to open another direction.
And if you push too hard, it won’t go out.
I post six articles in a row about self-help and medium-term growth, but no one reads them, even though those articles really make something that someone should pay me for.
But as soon as I wrote this piece, which is largely based on opinion, my progress picked back up.
This kind of algorithm helps people find matches for their searches, which is a good thing. This is also going to help you gather a real audience that is really engaged with your thing and is going to support you sincerely.
Emotions play a significant role in the Medium. Make an article based on your real emotion, not the fake one.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter what algorithm they use or where Medium takes you. What matters is you, your skill, and your audience.
Focus on your thing, but still, make something different once in a while and keep connected to the people in your audience or outside your audience.
Support people by reading and comment not scrolling and highlighting. We know you don’t read Bitch.
Final thought
Through the series of such disciplines — mental, emotional, and moral, principally using memory and imagination, we all know it is not as easy as it seems.
In the most hardcore circumstances imaginable, the focused writer used the human endowment of self-awareness to discover a fundamental principle about the art of writing.
This is the help that I can provide to you and if you like or disagree please put your comment on this post so I can see what I need to do next for you guys.
Help me Medium doesn’t pay
And guys, if I may ask, could you tell me where to write for a magazine, website, or other platform that can help me make extra money?
I’m talking about a real paycheck, not just some pretty content to read.
Please get in touch with me if you need help or if you know of a good job that might pay me extra for my work.
You can see my portfolio on this Medium page, and you know I’m not joking about the articles I’ve posted.
