Kamala Harris Has Reclaimed Patriotism for Democrats
She makes me proud to be an American

The Democratic National Convention in Chicago ended with a bang on Thursday night as Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepted her party’s nomination, delivering what I believed was the strongest acceptance speech I’ve heard from any presidential candidate this century.
I didn’t know what to expect from Thursday’s speeches, but Harris exceeded my expectations and then some. Unlike the unpatriotic and unenergetic Republic Party Convention (misspelled intentionally), the DNC was stacked with inspirational and enthusiastic speakers every night. Each person who stepped up to the podium had the unenviable task of preserving the energy and momentum built up by those before.
If I were the nominee, I would’ve dreaded it; following President Biden, the Clintons, Bernie Sanders, the Obamas, Pete Buttigieg, Coach Walz, and even Oprah Winfrey, these would’ve been difficult if not impossible acts for anyone to follow. Somehow, Kamala Harris made it look easy.
In simple-to-understand yet eloquent terms, she accepted the nomination with grace, outlining her qualifications to serve as our nation’s next commander-in-chief. In doing so, she expressed a vision for America that everyone can be proud of — Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between.
“Every day, in the courtroom, I stood proudly before a judge and I said five words: Kamala Harris, for the people,” she said. “And to be clear, [for] my entire career, I’ve only had one client: the people.”
“On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination to be president of the United States of America.”
