For those who have not seen the 1983 movie, Monty Python’s Meaning of Life, this iconic clip is the song and dance number entitled, Every sperm is sacred…

Satirizing religion, Catholicism in particular, it was easy to laugh given the social trajectory of our country in the 80's. With Roe the law of the land for ten years at that time and the evolution of women’s roles and the growing openness to sexuality as personal and unique and basically no one else’s damn business, it was harmless fun.

Now with Christian Nationalism an institutionalized political threat courtesy of Pres. 45/47, the laughter is not easily forthcoming.

Last week, Mississippi State Sen. Bradford Blackmon, a Democrat, introduced a bill effectively banning men from masturbating or engaging in other sexual acts when they have no “intent to fertilize an embryo.”
