Trust: MAGA Republicans Don’t and Democrats Do
Trust is at the root of everything… abortion, book bans, education, trans kids… it comes down to who you trust and who you don’t
I watched a bit of a focus group. Six ordinary people were asked to voice their opinions of Kamala Harris.
Two Democrats, two Independents, and two Republicans.
I was mostly interested to hear the Republicans.
They raised valid issues, broadly speaking.
One of them — a Black woman, and yes, there is such a thing as a Black woman Republican, though that did admittedly surprise me — said she is tired of what she called “identity” politics.
Even though I would point out that Kamala herself is making no big deal about her “identity,” I believe that is an honest and fair debate to have with Democrats. I would disagree it is a problem, but it is still fair to debate, and that woman seemed sincere in her frustration.
The other Republican — a Latino man — voiced a general cynicism about Democrats always making all sorts of promises they can’t realistically keep. I might point out that is something Republicans do as well, but again, fair issue to…
