Making Gas Prices Great Again
At such a cost!
During Trump’s last stint as would-be King of the United States, gas prices were lower than during Biden’s presidency. That’s a fact: On Trump’s last day in office, January 20, 2021, gas was $2.39 per gallon, while on Biden’s last day four years later, the price was $3.11.
What’s not a fact, indeed, what is a lie, is Trump’s statement about gas prices:
“Look, when I left, gasoline was $1.87. That was a year ago. And now, it’s, I guess, just hit $7.50 in California, the rest to follow….”
Trump won the race in 2024 by pandering to racists and billionaires and by promising to bring down prices for groceries and gas. How’s he done so far on gas?
We’ll use two blue states, California and New York, and two red states, Texas and Florida, in a brief analysis of his success so far, but you can go to the U.S. Energy Administration for information about other states and regional areas.
