May the Force Be With Us
Ya’ll, given that we’re somehow once again entering the Empire (Strikes Back), I honestly think Star Wars will be what keeps me sane during the next four years.
Between what’s going on with the country, and what’s gone on in my personal life in the last decade with toxic parents, it’s literally the perfect metaphor for my, and many other people’s, lives. In fact, when you think about it, the whole Star Wars saga is a metaphor for how generational trauma shatters families and even destroys governments.
Hellooo!!!
I can turn on any Star Wars movie or series secure in the knowledge that it will be an entertaining commentary on current world events, giving me, the peon, a bit of hope that we can strike back against tyranny.
Not to mention Star Wars has, hands down, the best robots and androids of any Sci-Fi universe. Why? Because they don’t adhere to Asimov’s Rules for Robots:
First Law
A robot must not harm a human, or allow a human to come to harm through inaction.
Second Law
A robot must obey human orders, unless doing so would conflict with the First Law.
Third Law
A robot must protect its own existence, unless doing so would conflict with the First or Second Law.
