No Man Believes He’s Lesser Than an Embryo
Make no mistake about that
I want to be clear from the outset that this is not a rant about men being anti-abortion because over half of the so-called “pro-life” movement is made up of women.
No, this is about the way too many people — men and women — would reduce women and girls’ rights to less than that of embryos and fetuses. Many women have been brainwashed to believe this is not only acceptable but normal. Make no mistake, though. The vast, vast majority of men would never sacrifice their bodies, lives, or futures for an embryo. The thought would never even cross their minds. Were they to find themselves pregnant, they’d dispatch that pregnancy tout de suite if it interfered with their lives in any way, shape, or form.
Why? Because we teach men and boys to have self-worth and independence. Even a man with low self-esteem understands one basic truth — his body belongs to him and shouldn’t be violated against his will. This is perhaps why so many men who are sexually attacked don’t speak out about it — the notion that they weren’t able to protect their own bodies is simply too shameful to discuss. (Unfortunately, this is also reflected in the sickening lack of empathy toward men and boys who are victims of sexual assault.)
