Capturing the heart of a rural small town in North Carolina
Yesterday was a gloriously beautiful autumn day. I spent the morning in a little historic downtown near Raleigh, NC. It’s one of those quaint little towns that dot the countryside around The Triangle*. It was a sunny and comfortably cool morning for a photo shoot before traffic broke the peaceful, sleepy ambiance.
I spent my time on the Fuquay side of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. The name is pronounced, “Few-quay Vah-ree-na.” The town is a bit unusual, besides just its name. The little city has two separate historic downtown districts – the Fuquay side and the Varina side.
I plan to get over to the Varina side on another outing. The lighting is very different on that side and shots didn’t come out as well as with the Fuquay side. It may require a trip to the Varina side one evening when everyone is preoccupied with some activity on the Fuquay side to avoid all the traffic.
