Given the state of the world today, it’s not unreasonable to be afraid.

Climate change is making for intense weather and natural disasters. Cracks are forming in our institutions as political tensions fuel division and strife. War and genocide fill the headlines, and nowhere feels safe anymore.

It’s hard not to feel helpless.

It seems like everything in our lives is suddenly beyond our control, with no sense of long-term security nor promise of a stable home. The threat of a potential catastrophe and economic collapse looms heavy over us all, and it feels like desperation is nipping our heels.

It feels like the wolves are at the front door, and it’s getting harder and harder to feel optimistic about the future.

If what I’ve just said feels familiar or a little too real, you’re not alone. I feel it too. Most of the people I know are living with constant low-grade anxiety, spiking every time something unexpected hits the news.
