Portrait of a Killer
Ion (John) Rîmaru, nicknamed “Vampire of Bucharest” or “Blondes’ Killer,” is a notorious Romanian serial killer.
Born in 1946 in Olt County, he was the oldest of three sons. This cold-blooded killer is the product of a broken home, where the violence and abuse of his father took a grave toll on the other members of the family.
He started his criminal career when he was 18 years old. He performed very poorly in school, having to repeat his first year of high school. While in high school, he slept with an underage girl, one of his teacher’s daughters. That’s also when he got his first conviction for theft.
