Sleep Paralysis and Insomnia: My Brain Likes to Torture Me
It’s literally a waking nightmare, if you’ll pardon the pun
Dreaming can be a wild and wondrous experience.
You never know what you’ll see as you drift off to sleep. Will you be flying? Will you be back in school, late for all of your classes? Will you be at work with an endless stream of customers demanding nonsensical orders of sugary drinks?
That last one was a recurring one for me when I worked at the old café. They had lots of details of what they wanted, but they would never tell me what size cup it should be in.
“Small or large?” “Hot, please. Extra whipped cream.” Every. Freaking. Time!
People with a healthy sleep pattern spend about two hours of the night dreaming, and most of the time we don’t remember the full context and details of our dreams when we wake up.
Some dreams are pleasant, some dreams are terrifying, and some are in between. Some are just straight-up confusing. We’re all familiar with dream-logic, and how it just doesn’t make any form of sense in the waking world.
