Every year, Spotify compiles the most listened songs in a personal playlist! Here is mine — the places from 30 to 21. ❤️

30: Du Hast (Way Too Happy Cover) by Melodicka Bros

And we start happy and cheerful with Rammstein’s “Du Hast”! Melodicka Bros have worked magic, not for the first time for a good mood song.

By the way, today we had snow for the first time. And of course, I’m imagining a snowball fight with my son with the happy beats of “Du Hast” in the background. Is that rather funny or weird? 😅

29: Canto D’Inverno by Furor Gallico

The Italian folk metal band has recorded here a wonderful song for winter! Whenever I heard the song, I felt somehow “at my roots”. I can’t even explain exactly why, but this is the effect “Canto D’Inverno” has on me. I feel connected to nature.

Let someone again claim that Heavy Metal was only about demons or violence — in fact, I read such a statement on Medium not too long ago. And then when I hear songs like this, that statement comes back to my mind and I just think, what a shame. Some people don’t have a clue what poetry they are missing out on.

28: En Tierra De Hadas by Celtian

And here it is, the song to the album of the same name. Not my favorite (it’s yet to come!), but definitely in my Top 28. ;)

The sound, however, reminds a lot of the Spanish fellows of Mägo de Oz. Here, you can see where the inspiration came from — which in itself doesn’t have to be a bad thing. In fact, I’m kind of thankful that the inspiration helped bands like Celtian into the spotlight.

27: Black Sheep (Acoustic) by Sonata Arctica

“In love with the maiden, the flower of winter” ← This rhythm goes down like honey! I also totally love the original, which is very powerful in contrast to this acoustic version.

26: The Nights (Pirate Rock/Metal Cover) by Melodicka Bros

Avicii in all honor — I loved his music! But if I’m completely honest, I have to admit that this cover reaches a whole new level. And the Violin… wow!

To be fair, though, without Avicii this version probably wouldn’t exist, to begin with.

25: Broken by Seether ft. Amy Lee

This might be one of the few tracks in my list that are actually better known. Unbelievable that this song is already over 20 years old! Seriously, where has the time gone? I could have sworn it was a release within the last 2 years!

I once sang a nice duet to it in karaoke with a really talented singer who had taken over Seether’s part at that time. Unfortunately, I don’t have the recording anymore.

24: The Wolven Storm by The Hound + The Fox

Priscilla’s Song again. As I’ve mentioned before, I picked up The Witcher 3 last January. I especially like the harms in this version.

23: My Land (Acoustic) by Sonata Arctica

“My Land” and “Replica” were the songs my husband had on his MP3 at the time — in the original power metal, not acoustic, like this one. And with these two songs, my love for the Finnish power metal band Sonata Arctica only began.

22: La Cantata Del Diablo by Mägo De Oz

“The Song Of The Devil” — provocative title.

21 minutes is this masterpiece! The text is both poetic and critical of the church, and even God.

I notice less atheism than disappointment, which speaks out of it. Human feelings like being abandoned or feeling unloved, since God’s love seems to be conditional. At least according to the church leaders.

Partly I can only agree with the statements, but partly not.

But basically, it doesn’t matter much, because what Mägo de Oz reflects in this song is simply what many people think and believe. And ultimately, the song expresses only the desire for support for people who need support — which is basically nothing other than charity.

21: Backstreet Boys Medley by Anthem Lights

As a teenager, I was totally crazy about the Backstreet Boys. Together with my friends we went to several concerts, often sang their songs in karaoke, and of course, our rooms were plastered with their posters.

We all had our personal crushes, of course — and mine was Brian Littrell. And yes, my youngest son has the same first name — better not ask!!! :) But seriously, by the time my Brian was on the way, the crush was long gone. I just liked the sound of the name, and also still think Brian Littrell has a wonderful voice.

Tomorrow, let’s continue with places 20–19 in the penultimate episode of this Spotify series!
