Don’t Lose That Lovin’ Feeling

The Honeymoon Stage of a Relationship Doesn’t Have to End

You know that feeling of butterflies in your stomach? The one you get when you meet someone wonderful, and find out they feel the same way about you that you feel about them? The wonderful, intoxicating, amazing feeling that two people share when they figure this out together?

You know, when common sense and rational thought leave both your bodies?

I kid, I kid… Well, sort of. Sometimes we make poor choices during the honeymoon stage of a new relationship. Red flags aren’t nearly as visible during those first weeks and months. With any luck, we keep our eyes as open as our hearts tend to be with someone new. That’s important.

I was listening to my Bon Jovi greatest hits CD yesterday when driving home from my writing office. I don’t recall which song it was, but one of them talked about new relationships and that wonderful feeling we feel when we’ve found someone new. The feelings of attraction, romance, and being loved are wonderful.

As is the feeling of not being alone in a tough, often difficult world.
