The Next Four Years
Thoughts on how we get through what is coming
There are many people who are (rightfully) asking about how we get through the next four years as inauguration day brings a preview of what is to come. I won’t speak to the statements made, they are as hollow as the head of the man who made them — but they are causing fear to many people I love and care about.
There are so many kind-hearted, caring, and loving people who are asking the same questions, and I would dearly love to have a time machine to be able to come back and give them the answers they need to feel safe and secure over the next four years.
I don’t have those answers.
I don’t have a time machine.
I don’t have a way to stop the things that are going to happen because of the man in the White House.
I’m at a loss here, and it makes me sad and scared to see the rhetoric that’s circulating today — words and phrases that may lead to violence.
I can’t fix it.
But I do know a way that we can make things a little bit better for the next four years. I know of a way that we can maybe get through things together and come out of this with our integrity intact. To not be drawn into the ugliness I see on the horizon.
