The Locked and Continue System/Method
Oba(name changed) surprises me many times. In as much as I know she's not a good liar. The other day in the morning hours her mum found money from her bag. Her mum who was surprised asked her who gave her the money. Like other times she had lied saying Ngozi(name changed) had given it to her.
With much anger, her mother struck her with her bare hands and still, she refused to tell her crying in tears making her mum wonder what kind of daughter God had blessed her with. That day like other days her mum refused to go to school to punish her. Still, Oba never said anything.
This time calling her uncle and aunties who usually gives her money but this didn't go well with her mum who trusted her siblings. Not her brother Ade and Ibinabo. Not Chi-Girl or Fatima. So she called them all to find out and Uncle Ade, Ibinabo, etc could not remember the last time they gave money.
That was about a month ago. That Oba's mother knows, but she really wanted to know because for the past few days as she quietly watched her daughter, she had come to realize the silly things Oba usually buy but she'd always wave them all thinking it was from the money she usually gave to her as pocket money...
But today Oba has refused to say anything. Rather Oba was saying more lies. She couldn't call for her help. Not when two days ago her mum went to find out about some stuff and Ify denied it. Had it been Ify knew what was going on she would have covered her friend but that day Oba's mother was so friendly and cunning that she couldn't notice it.
And the next thing when her father came back from work in the early evening she still didn't say anything tangible but kept lying.
Then her father went in only to return and whip her with his cane. Oba fell and fainted... the next thing all I could hear was her voice shouting for help.
The story already says it all. Reading carefully you would find out how I added yesterday’s theme to today’s story and subject matter. As a parent, you can really find out when your child is.
How do you find out?
It is very hard and simple to know. When a child Lies including you and everyone else. They keep lying and that's what I called the "Lock and Continue System". A system and junction whereby they're now locked and to keep on lying or get caught. Since they don't want anyone to know including you they keep on lying and the cycle continues.
So how do you break it?
This is very hard to say because there are several ways.
Once you found out all you need to do is stop the questioning(and persuasiveness/fi and think of appropriate ways you can use to get the truth not hitting and beating will bring out the truth. Remember what happened to Oba! It is a shock, a said one at that.
