Becoming Ageless

When I turned 40, I entered a new age group marketers love: The Ageless.

Almost overnight, people started calling me ‘Ma’am’ and making assumptions about me, my taste, and even my looks.

Welcome to the world of stereotypes where women in their 40s are supposed to be caring mothers, devoted wives, and successful careerwomen!

Every time I have to input my age in a form, I feel the cold sweats as my thumb goes numb, endlessly scrolling back to the 1980s. Forty years ago, wow.

Although Mark Zuckerberg has never seen me, his team seems to think they know everything about me. Apparently, I’m going through a mid-life crisis, and they are constantly sending me promo codes for Mindvalley and the likes to live a more fulfilled life.

I’m also bombarded by his wellness team with solutions to my flabby belly and cellulite. Excuse me, I might be a lady in my 40s, but I exercise 6 times a week, and I’m happy with my body image- I think I look way better than Zuckerberg.

In fact, I’m happier with the mirror now than when I was in my 20s and would find flaws everywhere. That’s the beauty of entering the ageless…
