I guess as we get older, we learn that negative emotions aren’t going to get us anywhere. At least, that is my lesson. Certainly, when I was younger, I would rail against the world when things didn’t go the way I wanted.
At some point, I came across teachings on having a positive mindset, and what you think about comes about. To this day, I still remember these words. So, I’ve learned that our emotions can affect how well we live our lives.
Are you ruled by powerful feelings that you feel are beyond your control? Although emotions appear to originate out of nowhere, they are feedback in response to our thoughts. They function as road signals, directing us toward our desired outcomes in life.
Emotional input can be favorable or negative, depending on various conditions. Since everyone enjoys happy feelings, there’s little reason to explore them.
Instead, let’s concentrate on negative emotions. When you understand how to use negative emotions, a whole new world of enjoyment and prosperity will open up to you.
What’s the Source?
If you’re feeling upset right now, consider what’s causing it. What did you think about? Now, consider why that thought caused a negative reaction.
Your negative emotions only inform you that something is amiss. It is like putting your hand on a hot stove. Your hand hurts, prompting you to move it. This prevents you from suffering further harm. That negative thought indicates that something needs to be fixed before you can feel better again.
When you experience negative feelings, you are likely doing something not in line with your values or aspirations. Alternatively, you may be afraid of having to act in this manner in the near future.
