Recently I met up with two high school classmates whom I had not seen in 30 years. Our reunion was so bizarre. For days I wondered, “Did that really happen?”

I hoped our reunion would prompt the reminiscence of our high school days — we would laugh and recall our class's fun and silly personalities along with unique memories I still cherish today.

But — nope. This was not the case.

Instead, the first topic of conversation which continued to be interspersed throughout our three-hour visit surrounded Iliana’s (not her real name) latest gig. She now sells life insurance.

She never said that though. She ‘protected families.’

There it was — the sales pitch I can spot a mile away.

There is nothing wrong with selling life insurance. However, how agents choose to communicate along with their business practices makes or breaks the impression most seem to have about life insurance agents.
