Why It Isn’t a Good Idea to Let It Go to Maintain Peace
Giving in to pressure to avoid conflict might seem like a good idea at the time, but it usually ends up hurting you in the long run.
I have a real problem with people who will give in to others who are rude or disrespectful to avoid conflict. They often say that it is to keep the peace. The problem, however, is that people get away with bad behavior because they never have to suffer the consequences.
In human interactions, conflict is a given. Different points of view, needs, and values in friendships, personal relationships, or professional dynamics cause arguments in each.
Although it could seem simpler to “let it go” and avoid arguments to preserve the peace, this mindset usually results in more complex problems that, over time, might compromise the relationship and personal well-being.
Choosing peace above addressing actual issues can produce surface concord instead of true understanding and solutions.
