Why You Should Be Afraid to Give Birth in the United States
Is the U.S. pro-family? Hardly
Everyone loves babies, right? With their squishy, cute little cheeks, adorably tiny outfits, and sweet baby smells, babies are more than just new humans to be doted on. They bring hope for a new generation to contribute to society.
In a capitalistic economy, babies provide a future workforce; more cogs in the wheel of productivity, and, more importantly, future taxpayers. However, Americans are no longer producing enough babies to replace the grown-ups. Perhaps this is why the government is freaking out about the drop in birth rates.
I did my part in creating replacements for myself and my husband. We made two babies, and both daughters are now young adults. Would I have babies now, even if I could? I don’t think so. Don’t get me wrong. I love my daughters, and I’m grateful for them. But I’m afraid for my daughters if they decide to start families. My concerns are both for their safety in the process of growing and delivering babies and for the future world for my potential grandbabies.
