A comprehensive guide to launch a CMS Product.
We’re about to launch a major CMS Platform with fully customized feature set.We will be shipping the product early next year. We are going through a critical phase of development where we are intending to build the product with features which will solve the problems of every client who are looking for a CMS platform.
We are happy to launch the product keeping in mind with the client’s requirements. We just don’t want to be another CMS product company with unwanted features and want to add niche features to compete with other CMS vendors found on the Internet.
We’re aware that a lot of products are half baked before they step out of the oven.We don’t want to do that mistake and release the product.
Below are some of the points which we would like to share, how we can make the product successful.
The Designer’s Job:
Usually the front-end designer’s work is more intense and tricky during the development of early stages of the project. The designer has to figure out how the bones of the experience will work. He leaves after the big decisions have been made and the designs are handed over to the software developers.
Rather than leaving the team to follow through, Each of the team member has to work together to build and shape the product better.
The designer is the most valuable asset of the company leading up to the launch. He has envisioned the design and based on his mock ups the design is shaped and brought into life.He can judge the vision either its quite matching the finished product or need any iterations before launch.
Set your goals right:
Do not overload the product with loads of features. Stay focused on your core feature instead of jumping into an arms race on building more features. Focus on building the product which the customers fall in love. If you’re building a product focus on the workflow and ease of use.
Get ready to talk to people:
Be ready to talk to the people whom you think will love the product.Client requirement research plays an important role while spreading the word about the product.Explain how people can benefit from your product and how intuitive it is to understand the interface.
After the launch you may have loads of suggestions and improvements from people. The folks who love your product and understand the workflow are the biggest advocates who will help you unlock new opportunities.Although its quite likely they will understand the product like you do.If you make them understand how to use it and why it works for them, you’ll get the insight into how to expand your clients with the similar needs.
Focus on the momentum:
If the moment your product gets half baked and gets out of the oven, everyone from your team will take a vacation and you will struggle to regain the momentum you had pre-launch in concentrating on the production.
Following up with your team members and the clients is an important task where the launch should not be treated as a completed mission. The natural tendency is to review your launch as the finish line to win the race.
All said and done…
Eventually most of the products do not succeed as you envisioned it to be.You might get last minute issues and things will be hectic and you might get afraid of things being not worked out. Do not lose hope! Overnight no product in the world will get bells and whistles. So rather talking negativity i would rather appreciate the team who put in the effort to launch the product successfully.
