8 Years In, Still Just At The Beginning
Eight years old. Does that make us ancient by digital standards or still the scrappy kids fighting with the big advertising agencies and PR firms? Probably a little bit of both.
As BPI celebrates our eighth anniversary this month, we are both where we never expected to be and exactly where we hoped — which seems fitting for a team trying to build a company in a rapidly changing space.
Today, our team provides a bully pulpit for the world’s largest ideas. When looking down a list of the biggest issues of the day, we can be found counseling candidates, CEOs, philanthropists, causes, and brands. And while much of our work remains digital, that has become merely a means to an end. Our job is to solve business problems with better communication. And as the lines between content and advertising have blurred, we now have the tools to do so regardless of channel.
For this, we should recognize how fortunate we are to do what we do. Given all that is going on in the world, we are lucky to spend our time producing results that matter. We are fighting climate change, defending health care and Dreamers, helping companies through their biggest transitions, supporting many of the most eminent thought leaders, building new brands, and of course, continuing to elect Democrats. And we do it by constantly believing that we can do better: breaking down barriers through advancements in advertising, targeting, measurement, creative, and strategic communications.
As we’ve grown, we’ve expanded from our hub in Washington, DC to offices in Manhattan, Chicago, and San Francisco, building a near 24–7 operation — and exponentially increasing the amount of time we spend in hotels and airplanes.
We have a growing, diverse, and talented team that ranges from storytellers to data analysts and graphic animators to media planners. The first-chair agency of the future is an integrated exercise that requires dedication to producing the best work and constant creativity. I can only imagine the skillsets we will need in the future, but I’m grateful every day for those who have been with us since the beginning and those who have joined along the way to strengthen and grow our team.
To our clients, friends, and team past and present — thanks for supporting us along the way. We look forward to the next eight years at BPI.
