On the Way to Decentralization, a Lesson to Learn in the Centralized World
Butterfly Protocol was created in anticipation of massive censorship from large corporations and State actors. We began this journey 2 years ago as a self-financed business. We put our money where our mouth was. We have a deep belief that the free flow of information creates freedom and is a basic human right. Perhaps naively, we didn’t anticipate the strength and ferocity of the attacks we received. Primarily, a DDOS attack on our website was a signal that Butterfly was getting some attention. Many corporations and governments are scared of technology like this. We will continue to fight to bring the tools necessary for people to communicate freely to a mass audience. These attacks only serve to strengthen our resolve. When people try to destroy you, it can mean your course is correct and just. Ours is.
In the coming days, we will be opening up our private beta of our decentralized social app to a select few. Yes, it’s earlier than we wanted, but we will showcase the technology to fight the doubters and criminal elements attacking us.
We know gas fees are high with ethereum DApps and there needs to be more options available to the people who believe. To this end we are starting the process of a CEX listing. In addition we will be launching an interface to interact with our domain sponsorship and registration contracts. This is where the economic model gets interesting and we will explore that in the next post. We appreciate all who have educated themselves and learned how our system works. We will continue to add functionality and release it in phases.
This is what we have accomplished in January with a glimpse into the near term future:

• Auction UI and UX refined and ready for use — February 2021
• Public sale of BFLY tokens and exchange listing — February 4th, 2021
• Platform Partners expanded starting in February 2021
• Butterfly Social released to widespread use — Q2 2021
• New DApps for decentralized repositories, trust ID and others begun Q2
