Are you ready to warp your world with Flexture? Flexture is a super fun collaboration with FredWreck — master of drone photography. Flexture warps, twists, and bends your photos into fascinating new worlds. This app is fantastic for creating epic landscapes.

Flexture works best with wide landscape shots. For this tutorial, we’ll use this Florida beach shot that I captured on our last vacation.

As soon as you load a photo you’ll be able to adjust basic filter values such as brightness and saturation. Also, this would be a good time to crop the image if needed. Try to keep the horizon close to the center for the best effect.

Getting started with Flexture

Next you’ll want to choose from one of the presets, which include possibilities like warping diagonally, used here to suggest that you have captured the edge of the earth. Other presets include waves, melts, glitches, clamps, or polygons, to give more of a watercolor approach. It’s easy and fun to simply tap through the presets and see all of the possibilities. Let’s start with the first warp preset.

Flexture automatically positions the images for an initial layout. For the best look, adjust the position of each image. To position of each image, use one finger to drag or two fingers to adjust the size. Once you have the first image set correctly, click on the Image 2 button and similarly adjust the second half of the picture.

Sometimes we end up with parts of the image that we want to remove. In this example, we have people walking down the edge of the earth. Use the clone tool to erase these areas. Note that you can adjust the size of the brush within the clone tool. It helps to erase details that are mirrored on each image such those two people in the vertical water.

Flexture also includes a collection of layer objects to make your photos even more exciting.

Be sure to check out the layers feature, where you can add anything from astronauts, to silhouettes, to celestial objects, to flocks of birds!

Hopefully this helps inspire you to create your first Flexture! It’s available today in the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad.
