We spoke earlier to Professor Meredith Portsmore at the Tufts University robotics and outreach department, and learnt of a very nippy resource that we want to share with all of you: Dr E ! That is short for Doctor E’s Mindstorms.

The Dr. E’s MINDSTORMS® Challenges provides an online space where different monthly contests inspire children to design, implement, and share their solutions with a worldwide community of like-minded robotics enthusiasts.

Appropriate for doing at home, in after-school clubs, or in the classroom as part of the curriculum, the challenges help develop building, programming, or other skills using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® platform.

Dr. E’s Challenges encourage learners to develop creative technical solutions to open-ended problems, and to share their work online inspiring others around the world.

With several ideas for cool things you can build every month, you can see what other children around the world are working on, you can get involved with them or ask them to join or have a look at your project. You can also vote for your favourite invention of the month. And you can upload your workings and even a video demonstration.

The winner gets a personal letter from Dr.E and is featured on the site, which is rather exciting!

Here are some previous winners and cool inventions;

It is free to join, and lots of fun, so for those of you who have robots on your minds, get involved!
