What we learnt from Negroponte’s very interesting article.

Well... when people ask the expert and tech visionary, Nicholas Negroponte, what specific technology toys or games he recommends for children. He answers “ Lego Mindstorms [kits to create programmable robots] is by far the highest on my list.”

Read the full article here.

In summary, Negroponte firmly believes Technology Will Change Teaching. It is perhaps a call to revise our position, as parents, as teachers and academics about screens and the web, and monitor how this time is spent rather than how much time is spent.

He says “I am as enthusiastic about limiting screen time as I am limiting piano playing, book reading or traveling the world”.

We very much agree and and this really made us laugh, about Virtual Reality :

“You will be able to visit Rome to learn about the Romans. So prepare yourself to ask a different question: “Sweetheart, are you spending too much time in Rome?”

There is definitely something there. The challenge is, how to best, productively, smartly and efficiently use the technology and amazing innovations across the digital world to deepen and revolutionise education ?

Technology is the now and so technology is the future. Brainiac.Club relies on the belief that digital skills, tech habits and engineering education should be brought to younger grades to engage them and help develop unique skills, unique expertise in sync with the fast evolving tech world we live in.

So, we in our humble way, will be bringing some VR pioneers to schools around the country: Cursicope, inventors of the Virtuality Tee;

Basically, Curiscope have invented a way of attaching sensors to a t-shirt and then simulating a virtual trip through the human body, making the dream of Isaac Asimov’s Fantastic Voyage a reality. The T-shirt is machine washable to boot.

More about that here.

So whether you are a parent or a child, please join us explore the Future of Tech.

Thanks for reading.
