Conch.app is one of a growing number of AI writing tools focusing on avoiding detection. Does it work? Is it worth it? Who would want this are some questions I will work to answer in these questions.

For context the first image you see is from the Conch.app website once you have signed in. That is the first thing you will see. Some of the tooling is not up and running yet so instead of focusing on what does not work I will tell what is working and how effective it is in practice.

So choosing the ‘Write’ prompt you can input a prompt for discussion with the tool. The concept I chose to write about was the idea of horizon in anthropology. One example is cultural horizon which is marked by the presence of particular types of artifacts or practices that appear across different regions. The spread of maize agriculture across North America is an example of a cultural horizon. Such as the Clovis culture or Yamnaya or the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture formed horzions. Anyways, you can ask Chatgpt if you want to know more as to what a ‘horizon’ is.

Conch is not meant to just press a button and produce an essay. It is meant to be used as an assistant that knows your voice.
