Doing good on Giving Tuesday (and beyond.)

Over the years, we’ve worked with tons of not-for-profit organizations; passionate groups doing their best to make the world a better place and do good for others. This work feeds our soul as an agency, and it’s an honor to partner with these organizations and help give a voice to who they are and what they do.

Over the years, we’ve seen blurred lines between not-for-profit (NFP) and for-profit (FPs) organizations for good reason. Our expectations as consumers have changed. We expect all organizations, no matter what they produce or do, to care just as much about serving others and doing good in the world as they do turning a profit. This is one of the founding principles of B Corporations, and we work hard to do good and be sustainable as a FP.

Over the years at Brains, this commitment has taken many forms. We have banded together as a team to buy over 30 turkeys for community potluck, we matched employee donations to individual NFPs, we purchased team gifts from NFPs with business models designed to benefit those they serve, like Thistle Farms. Recently, our Greenville team used our Good Time volunteer hours to support Village Launch through design and community event set up, while our LA team had their donation to No Us Without You matched in full, providing a week’s worth of meals plus Thanksgiving dinner to 18 families. We continue to match our employees as they do good and give back to NFPs that matter to them personally.

We’ve learned it’s not the method that matters most, but the intention and follow through. This is the spirit that makes Giving Tuesday so special; a single day when we all work to shine a light on the organizations that show up every day and work hard to show up for those who need them most.

Want to join in the good and get a little holiday shopping done? Our friends at B Labs did a great job categorizing gifts that do good below.
