EtisalatNigeria now 9mobile

Troubled telecom company, Etisalat has changed its brand name to 9Mobile.

The change followed a meeting held by the management of the company on Thursday in Lagos and meant the company beat the three weeks deadline given by the UAE shareholders for the company to phase out the brand name.

Etisalat International of the United Arab Emirates , the major stakeholder in Etisalat Nigeria pulled out from the company after a failed to re-negotiate a $1.7 billion loan.

Etisalat entered the Nigerian telecom market in 2008 with the 0809 number plan and had for seven years it has been in the market promoted ‘Nigerianess’ in his brand positioning.
