The Public Relations industry in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the death, recently, of one of its vibrant members, Prince Osita Ike, principal consultant of Oyster St Iyke Limited, a PR firm.

Prince Osita Ike, popularly known as Jisospikin, until his death from alleged asthmatic attack was an active member of both PRCAN and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Grieving his death, the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN), the umbrella body for Public Relations Consultancy firms in Nigeria, described it as a ‘great loss’ to the industry in Nigeria.

The President of PRCAN, John Ehiguese, said in a statement at the weekend, that the sudden nature of Ike’s death left his colleagues and the larger communications sector far more saddened, given that he still had aged parents.

“We mourn our dynamic and enthusiastic colleague whose commitment to the public relations profession was never in doubt. No doubt, the outpouring of emotion and tributes since his sudden transition is a confirmation of how well he played his part in the advancement of his cherished profession and his belief in humanity,” Ehiguese added, saying, “We pray that God Almighty will comfort his aged parents, wife, children and all whose lives our brother and friend Ike impacted on.”

Also mourning him, the MD, The Quadrant Company, Bola Okusaga, described late Ike as a “great man.”

“He was a great man — ever smiling and ever positive. I met him through Ngozi Osu Anene and I feel privileged to have known him. May his gentle soul find true rest with his maker,” Okusaga prayed ina Facebook post.

Late Ike served PRCAN as an ex-officio member between 2004 and 2010 and remained an active member up till his last days.
