Trajections: Preview

When the organisers of the short-lived, but much loved, Boom Bap Festival announced it would not be continuing this year, a lot of rap fans were left wondering what was going to fill the very obvious void that would be left. Boom Bap was the only real dedicated hip hop festival in the UK and so something was needed to replace it; something big. Then earlier this year it was announced by those same organisers, that a one day extravaganza would be taking place, featuring one of the most ridiculous line-ups I’ve ever seen (see below).

Trajections takes place next Saturday, at the legendary Lakota club in Bristol and will squeeze a crazy amount of good music into 16 hours. Just focusing on the hip hop side of things for a minute, you’ve got sets from Cult Mountain, Dead Players, Rodney P & Skitz, JMan and Strange U to name just a few of the UK heads involved. Plus Kev Brown will be making the journey from Maryland to Bristol to put on what will no doubt be a legendary set.

It doesn’t stop with hip hop though. There will also be sets from the likes of President T, CASisDEAD, Nicky Blackmarket, Children of Zeus, Remarc and Kotei, so the flavours available will be widespread and varied enough to keep the place jumping from Saturday to Sunday.

During the day, hip hop will be the main ingredient with the club’s courtyard providing a block party vibe, before we move indoors and things start to get grimy in traditional Lakota style, as the tempos are upped across the board. All in all a pretty unique take on the one day festival model.

Brapp will be in attendance to cover the event and hopefully get some decent interviews with the wall to wall talent, so keep an eye out for that after the dust settles.
