“Where Do I find Inspiration as a Designer?!”

Although we may have an influx of media in our faces at all times, it doesn’t mean it makes it easier to find what inspires you. It’s about seeking sources of inspiration intentionally.

Every designer can hit a rut when it comes to inspiration, it’s normal. Don’t freak out (I repeat, don’t freak out). So how do we find new places to get inspired? There are a few that I’ve kept in mind over the years + a few that friends have been loving recently.

And no, I am not going to just give you the very basic places to find inspiration — but I will list them at the end just to be safe 😉

  1. Savee It

I cannot get enough of this site. It is aesthetically pleasing, but also shares so much visual inspiration that personally resonates with me. A feature I particularly love is the ability to see the color hex codes of images and search by those codes in the feed. This way you get served more content within that color group.

2. Abduzeedo.co

Another niche site I haven’t seen many other places is abdz.do! This one is especially great for people who are graphic designers specializing in branding. You can filter your search for things like branding, illustrations, 3D and more. When you open example work, you’ll be able to see a case-study breakdown of the designs.

3. Designspiration.com

Designspiration is a bit more — generalized. Here you can find inspiration on not only graphic design, but also things like architecture, interior design, fashion photography, and more! Out of all of the sites, I do think this is one of the best options in terms of their filter system, though I don’t feel the more inspired by the content.

4. The Basics

Outside of these three options, you can also use TikTok, Instagram, Behance, Dribbble, YouTube, and my favorite — Pinterest! Of course, these are the basics we are all pretty aware of. Though, I would challenge you to find inspiration outside of technology. Go for a stroll, go to a museum, hang out with creative people, listen to the world around you. You can learn a lot when you unplug.

That’s it for this one, but I would love to know where you find your inspiration below. Be sure to follow along our Instagram and TikTok for more inspiration and tools coming your way!
