Today we’re rolling out the 1.0 of Breaker for Android with a new layout, updated timeline, the ability to use Breaker without an account, and sign in with Google.

Today we’re excited to roll out the 1.0 of Breaker for Android! We’ve redesigned the Breaker experience based on user feedback and our desire to create a better podcast listening experience.

Here’s what’s new in 1.0:

New layout

Firstly, we’ve changed the look and layout of Breaker. Instead of having five tabs, we’ve simplified everything into three tabs: Discover, Playlists, and Subscriptions. We’ve also added a floating action button to the Discover page to help you quickly search for content.

What about your user profile and activity? No worries, we’ve added a profile button in the upper left for quick access to your stats and listening activity:

No log in required

New user? Want to try out Breaker? Now you can use the Breaker Android app without signing up for an account. You can browse hot episodes and categories as well as search and discover new shows. Create an account to subscribe to podcasts, like episodes, comment, and create your own playlists.

Sign in with Google

You asked for it, and we delivered — now in addition to signing in with Facebook, Twitter, and email, you can use your Google account to quickly sign in or create an account. Enjoy!

Emoji reactions

Sometimes an emoji is worth a thousand words. Emoji reactions are great for when you want to share your reaction to a podcast, but don’t have the time to write out a comment. They’re also a great high-level view into what a podcast is all about:

Each reaction is shown as a tick on the timeline, with the height corresponding to the number of users who reacted. Pile on to add your voice!

Comments in the timeline

Comments can now be seen on the timeline as well, with the height of the bar corresponding to the number of likes that comment has received.

We think these new timeline features offer a new way to interact with podcasts, and we plan to roll them out to iOS in the future. But for now, only Android users can enjoy them!

We look forward to continuing to innovate in the podcast space, and we’d love to hear your feedback.

Happy listening,

Duncan & The Breaker Team
