Breaker 1.0 for iOS is here!
Today there’s exciting changes to the Breaker iOS app including a new icon, updated layout, and the ability to try Breaker without an account.
New year, new Breaker! 🎉
Today we’re excited to announce Breaker 1.0 for iOS.
We’ve redesigned the Breaker experience based on user feedback and our desire to create a better podcast listening experience. Here’s what’s changed:
Updated layout
Firstly, we’ve changed the look and layout of Breaker. Instead of having five tabs, we’ve simplified everything into three tabs: Discover, Playlists, and Subscriptions
Upon looking at usage data for Breaker and consulting with our users, we were able to narrow down the most common use cases for listening into three tabs.
The Discover tab is all about finding new episodes! Breaker is the #1 app for episode discovery and you can explore based on your past listening, what’s hot right now with other listeners, what’s popular with your friends, as well as top episodes in categories, and more. The new Discover tab also contains the ability to search over all podcasts, episodes, users, and playlists.
We’ve broken out the former Library tab into two views: Playlists and Subscriptions. Now you can quickly get to your playlists to start listening or go to subscriptions to find an episode from a a particular podcast. These are the two top ways that our users find episodes from podcasts they already know they love.
What about your user profile and activity? No worries, we’ve added a profile button in the upper left for quick access to your stats and listening activity.

New user? Want to try out Breaker? Now you can use the Breaker iOS app without signing up for an account. You can browse hot episodes and categories as well as search and discover new shows. Create an account to subscribe to podcasts, like episodes, comment, and create your own playlists.

And finally, we have a new icon!
Don’t worry, it’s not a major brand redesign. It’s just the previous Breaker icon, but zoomed out. 😉
